Lisburn Rugby Club Players
Lisburn Rugby Club currently has over 30 players on their roster. The players are part-time and have other jobs as well, for example Owen Kelly works as an assistant bar manager, while Phil Culbert is a banking executive. In fact many of the players are students. Also many of the players live nearby and are part of the community or attended the Wallace High School (after which the club was once named). The website has a detailed profile of each player with humorous anecdotes such as a unique fact about each player, and even which celebrity they happen to look like.
Being a small club there’s a family like atmosphere surrounding the players and their profiles represent this. For example senior player Richard Dawson is the smallest player on the field, even when he’s coaching the Under 16s! And Geoff Alerdice has even saved someone’s life at the beach. Lisburn Rugby Club takes a lot of pride in its players and the community feel definitely helps the club with its teamwork and the atmosphere around the team.
There’s even a picture gallery that you can view on their official site, which recently received over 10,000 views, showing the increasing fan base that Lisburn Rugby Club are managing to gather, and by promoting the players with profiles and pictures, people feel more associated to the club.
Despite being a community club, Lisburn Rugby Club has big ambitions and some of their players have played at other teams before. The clubs long and successful history is also something that they will be very interested in continuing, and while many of the players might come from the nearby community and play rugby only part time, they are still top quality players, in fact some players like Stewart Pringle even play for the Ireland international team. |
